A clicking or ticking hard drive usually means the read/write heads can no longer read the platters. Every power-on can scratch the surface, so switch it off and don't try again.
What to do and what we do
- Turn it off straight away and don't keep retrying
- Don't open it or tap it
- We check the heads and, if needed, replace them in the clean room with matched donor parts
- We then image the drive sector by sector and recover the files from the copy
How the recovery works
- Free evaluation to find the fault.
- Fixed quote before any work starts.
- Safe imaging with PC-3000 and, when needed, our Class 100 clean room.
- Your data back on a new drive, checked with you first.
